Is Sleeping Naked Better For You? Hey guys! We spend about a third of our lives
sleeping, and should therefore try to make that time as beneficial as possible,
right? Well, even though we may not be conscious, there is still something we
can do to make our nights a bit better sleep naked. If you don’t wear pajamas
to bed, it makes it easier for the air to carry away some of your body heat via
convection.
See, when you go to bed at night, your core body temperature
decreases by about half a degree Celsius. Now, that might not seem like a big
change, but it’s thought that some insomniacs may have a hard time getting to
bed because they have impaired thermoregulatory systems, making it harder to
lose that extra heat. So your body’s heat loss, coupled with increased levels
of melatonin help make you tired and get better sleep. And interestingly, in a
study by the National Institutes of Health, it was shown that sleeping in a
colder room resulted in more brown fat production. And unlike white fat, which
stores extra energy, brown fat burns chemical energy to produce heat.
Furthermore, as your body cools and you begin to
enter deep sleep, your level of human growthr hormone peaks. This hormone is
essential for normal growth in children, especially during their pubescent
years. However, it is still active in adults. For us, it stimulates protein
synthesis and breaks down fat to provide the energy needed for tissue growth.
Also during this time, our cortisol levels decrease, and then rise again in the
late night before we wake up.
Cortisol, our stress hormone, helps maintain
glucose levels in the blood, but if it is too high of a dosage, it can impair
the function of the immune system. And if cortisol levels are too high during
sleep, some studies suggest that it can diminish our memory formation. And
lastly, if you sleep next to your boyfriend or girlfriend, cuddling has been
shown to decrease cortisol levels and increase oxytocin levels. And for men,
their levels of oxytocin, prolactin, and norepinephrine also increased during
orgasm. And if you are sleeping naked next to someone, these things are probably
going to happen.
Research on sleep is still an active field and we
might find something out in the future that completely goes against our current
knowledge. But for now, try sleeping naked for a while and see how you like it.
Sleeping attire is definitely a personal preference, so tell me in the comments
what you normally wear to bed at night.
Sleeping Naked make You Healthier.
Sleeping in the nude could
make you healthier. According to a study, one in three adults sleep in the
nude, and it has tons of benefits. For example, sleeping in the nude helps you
stay cool at night which is crucial for sound sleep. That's because our body's
core temperature needs to drop for us to fall asleep and if anything keeps our
temperature from dropping, like pajamas, our brain will keep waking us up to see
why.
That means we'll miss the restorative sleep needed to strengthen our
memory and grow and repair cells. So, I guess I have like a lot of extra-large
footy pajamas that I'll be selling now. Plus, when your a little chilly at
night it can boost your metabolism. That's because it turns on our "Brown
Fat".
That's the good type of fat that burns calories
to generate heat. In a study in the journal Diabetes, researchers found that
sleeping in a chilly room increases our body's percentage of brown fat, and we
can get that same chilly room effect by sleeping naked. Brown fat also improves
insulin sensitivity, which reduces the risk for diabetes. But if you do decide
to sleep naked keep your socks on.
Dr. Sonia Israel of the Swiss Sleep Clinic says
putting on socks improves circulation and is the surest way to get the body
ready for deep sleep. That's because when your feet are warm your blood vessels
dilate allowing heat to escape from your overall body, lowering your core
temperature. So sleep in the nude, but wear a light pair of socks to keep your
blood circulating. Because when we sleep deeply, our growth hormone kicks in
repairing our body and replenishing our energy. And pray that nobody pulls the
fire alarm the next time staying in a hotel because the socks, would be hard to
explain.
thats all about sleeping naked for you guys. Thanks for visit
